Going from a day to night look in the city is challenging, and takes a really versatile piece. However, having a piece that translates from uptown to downtown is even more fun. The amazing printed “Lindsay Dress” by Yumi Kim is the perfect mix of uptown class and downtown sass. I really feel like I could wear it anywhere. The long silk and deep blues could go from a beach wedding to the opera; yet the cool snake skin print and sexy open back make it perfect for your next gallery opening in Chelsea, or night on the town. Yumi Kim was nice enough to gift me this stunning piece, and it was one of my favorite shoots that I have done for the blog thus far! You will have excuse the overwhelming number of photos in this post, I just loved them all!
For the uptown look, I chose to pair the dress with a classy fur wrap. (Thrifted for $40 y’all! Original tags still attached, original price $425!) I also wore some statement earrings from the Yumi Kim store. Added a simple clutch and some pumps, and I was ready to attend the fanciest Upper East Side event. I was nervous about print mixing the wrap and the dress; but that is what is so great about this Yumi Kim piece, it makes such a statement while going well with everything!
For downtown, a cool leather jacket and some Jeffrey Campbell pumps were a must. I also chose to let my hair down and swap out the big earrings for a bunch of bangles and a gunmetal cuff. I added some darker eyeshadow and some metallic lipstick to take everything up a notch. Lastly, I gave myself a French manicure inspired by the colors in the dress with Essie “Butter Please” and “Noir.” I loved how cool and easy this look felt for me; this is a lot more my natural style. Either way, the dress worked wonders. I loved the way it blew in the breeze, and how the sexy thigh slits and back made me feel seductive but still full of class. This dress, and so much more can be found on the Yumi Kim website.
