How To Look Professional in a Creative Industry

When you work in an industry that has more loosely defined wardrobe rules, dressing for work becomes a lot more fun. However, it can also be challenging to dress fashionably everyday while staying within the confines of professionalism. When I worked at a law office, wearing tailored slacks and dresses was boring, but also relatively mindless. Now that I am working in fashion, appearing both on-trend and put-together is a whole new challenge. Incorporating fun details into classic cuts is a great way to add life to a traditional silhouette. The print on these pants and the pleats on my button down are fun details that instantly add pizzazz to the whole look. I also think that an amazing, yet classic pair of shoes is a great way to accessorize in the creative arena. This whole look is a perfect example of how classic cuts in bright colors can create a fun but professional ensemble.

Other ways to spice up your work wardrobe include adding bold accessories! A statement necklace or some great chunky bangles can let your artsy vibe shine through a basic shift dress and pumps. I love bold patterns in modest cuts for work as well. When you have the freedom to wear what makes you feel good to work, experimenting is a necessity!
