I can’t believe Fashion Week is almost over! I also can’t believe how many things I have been able to sneak into my schedule with school and work. This weekend was amazing! My friend Hallie invited me to the Vogue Runway Retreat across the street from Lincoln Center and I got some crazy braids and mingled with some lovely ladies. Check out all the fun street style shots my two favorite photographers (my Nick being one, and my friend Nick being the other) got here!
I did play it a bit safe with this look. I know, I know, I know…thigh high leather boots (in the daytime!) is not exactly playing it safe, but by NYFW standards it is. However, I have been dying to wear these things, so I chose to incorporate them in a cool, Euro-biker chick sort of way. I have had these boots for years. I bought them after I saw The Devil Wears Prada. You know that scene where she’s finally had her makeover, the camera pans up on her, leaning against a car in thigh-high leather boots. That moment was the moment I decided I was going to go out and buy some the next day. (Impulse shopping anyone?) Since then I have worn them three times. Once, I tried to wear them downtown where I went to college. It is a southern university town and everyone stared at me (not in a good way). The second time was the night I met Nick–I was dressed as Cat Woman. And the third was for these photos. And you know what? I am gonna whip them out more often. I think you can totally class them up and strip away the whole dominatrix vibe if you cover up enough skin. Besides, I moved to NYC so I could wear whatever I wanted (among other reasons…), and that goes double for Fashion Week. I hope you like them!
The Vogue Runway Retreat was perfect by the way. The whole basement of Bar Boulud was decked out. They had a manicurist, hair stylists and makeup artists. They even had an artist doing custom portraits of all the lovely ladies. Also they had literally the tiniest mini-desserts I have ever seen. I have always believed that desserts taste slightly better when they are miniature (probably because then I imagine that if I consume a whole cake’s worth of them that I actually didn’t have that many calories).
My favorite part of the event though was the spring collection premiere of Brahmin’s beautiful handbags. First off, these babies were stunning. The bags came in gorgeous prints and amazing textures, plus most of them were blue (which I always love). All the bags had different strap options, and could easily pass for a thousand dollar purse. None of the Brahmin collection was over $500, and you know this is exactly the kind of accessible luxury I love. Check out their website, because I know you’re gonna want one (or five, because I want at least five). Below I’ve included some shots of my outfit, as well as of the event. More Fashion Week fun will be on the blog throughout the week! Happy Hump Day lovecats!
Jessie from Style and Pepper has been one of my favorite bloggers for years! She has a satchel that will be released in the coming months! I am wearing a metallic All Day Convertible bag that is pre-release as well.
