So I have a bit of exciting news: About two and a half weeks ago I made the compulsive decision to drive up the West Coast with someone who was a stranger three months ago. Crazy as it may be, I have the time off of work, and was able to finagle a dog sitter and a free flight with sky mile points (I highly recommend Chase Sapphire credit cards if you are someone who likes to travel). Now, here I am, sitting in my apartment, trying to pack a suitcase for occasions as vast as camping and hiking in the Grand Canyon, to pool parties in Vegas, dinners in L.A., and blog posts along the way. I am stressed, excited, and have a generally open schedule (and mind) for the course of the next few weeks. This was never a trip I dreamt of, or would have planned for myself, but nothing feels more right for my life right now. Travel seems to refocus everything for me and grant perspective on the course of my everyday life.
When I pack for long trips, I like to pack pieces that can all be mixed and matched within a single color scheme. For this trip, I am sticking to mostly neutrals with pops of blue. Since I will be traveling by car, I am not restricting my packing list the way that I did when I backpacked through Europe and had to drag my suitcase everywhere. Dresses like this one are great because they are easily dressed up or down, and match just about anything.
