Paris in New York

This past weekend for Joonbug, I was fortunate enough to cover an awesome event in Bryant Park called A Taste of France. I am such a Francophile, I was a French minor in college, secretary of the French Club, and I studied abroad in Paris (I speak really abysmal and minimal French that I like to pretend could be fluent if I “just lived there for a while longer”) so this was really the event for me! Highlights included eating (obviously), seeing a giant Eiffel Tower Sculpture made out of butter, and kissing a French Bulldog at a kissing booth.

However, my main purpose for being there was to cover the beauty aspect of the event. There is so much to love about the quality of French beauty products; the time-tested methods of production that have made so many French beauty products long-lived favorites was a great thing to explore. I was so incredibly fortunate to design my own custom perfume with master perfumer Michel Mane of Mane Perfumes. I got a hands-on demonstration of how lavender oil is made, and I sampled a variety of their pure oils, the scent basis for most of their perfumes. Monsieur  Mane explained the process in detail, I got to choose the scents that I loved the most and he made me my own special blend! Mine included mostly rose and lavender notes with some spicy undertones.  It was so exciting to get to talk to him about the all natural and beautiful ingredients in their products. I feel so fortunate to be able to have these amazing experiences through Joonbug! You can check out my event coverage here! To find out more about Mane perfumes and other products, go here.

The dress I wore was a fun silk printed vintage number I got at a thrift store in Queens for $35. I know…it was too good to be true, really. I had to get it tailored because it did (and still does a bit) fit a little awkwardly around my hips. However, the print is so unique and the button details so amazing that I had to buy it. Hope you enjoyed your weekend as much as I did! Also, I hope you all enjoyed watching the end of Breaking Bad 😉
