Spring Prints, Winter Silhouettes

I am one of those people that gets depressed in the winter. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I have Seasonal Affective Disorder, (I haven’t been diagnosed or anything) but as a person who spent most of the first 22 years of her life seeing the sunshine everyday, the winters in the city can really get me down. The cold, lack of sunlight, and annoying snow make me just want to curl up, eat everything in sight, and never leave my apartment again.

There are a few ways I try to combat my hatred of these cold months. One is really awesome friends who force me to meet them for things that take place more than a 5 block radius around my apartment. The second is literally forcing myself to go to the gym by making myself feel incredibly guilty. And thirdly, I try to wear things that are not perpetually dark and dreary. People (and especially New Yorkers) send the whole season all in black and it makes everything so much more depressing.Bright colors are as close to spring as I can get in the winter, so I think it is necessary to incorporate them into my wardrobe.

This gorgeous midid skirt is so thick and heavy, perfect with tights for some chilly weather. It is also feminine and flirty, and thusly right up my alley. Just because the print screams spring doesn’t mean you can’t make it work for December. I paired it with a sparkly peplum for a holiday touch.

See you Wednesday for more holiday gift guides! I really need to get shopping!
