It seems like every high-end fashion blogger has been wearing some variation of the Valentino Rockstuds lately. And I must admit, all the Instagram shots of these beauties have given me a serious case of shoe envy. That’s why when I stumbled across these Wild Diva Heels on Lulu*s for…wait for it…$34 (!^%@^@%#) I literally flipped. They are one of the best look-for-less comparison buys I have ever seen. And they are actually super comfortable too! I paired mine with a tailored dress and my little Brahmin clutch for a classy uptown inspired look.
I would like to go ahead and suggest replacing the LBD with the LBJ (jumpsuit, that is). I love a good jumpsuit more than just about anything, and I think that having a well-tailored stand-by in your wardrobe is a necessity. I think jumpsuits really stand out in a sea of dresses; and that tailored look is polished, professional, and still so sexy! This one by Lulu*s has subtle sheer cut-outs, but can still be office chic with a blazer or scarf. There are so many fab jumpsuits available right now, so slinky, sexy, or structured there is one perfect for every girl’s closet. I’ve included some of my favorite picks below (though this one certainly takes the cake)!
As a Florida girl, I have a sincere love of bright colors. I think that if you can mix 3 or 4 (or 10) in an outfit you have a fun, eye-catching and girly summer look. I love the pinks, blues, greens and purples in this Kate Spade shirt. I wore it in a recent post with a much more casual vibe. Mixing a fun bright top with some denim is an easy way to dress down this colorful vibe as seen in my Kate Spade or Monet post. Here I chose a giant poufy midi skirt and some casual summer heels for a fun and girly look that can be good for work, brunch or even a party.
I think the key to wearing brights is to go with neutral accessories, as I did here with muted brown leathers. It is also fun to pull a key color to highlight for the whole look, as I did with the pink. But ultimately I am a huge fan of experimentation. This shirt is a peplum so I wasn’t sure it would fall nicely under the skirt, but when I tried it you couldn’t even tell! I think summer brights are a fun way to add some spark to your wardrobe, and encourage everyone to experiment a little with them to find new combos that you love and that work for you! What are you favorite seasonal colors?

Since I have started freelancing it is sometimes hard to find the motivation to wear anything other than yoga pants unless I have somewhere to go, but I did work an office job for about a year before I started my protest against normal pants. Wednesdays always felt like Fridays to me. And I usually needed something (like a fun happy hour with friends or a Soul Cycle class) to boost morale through the end of the week. Wearing a fun pop of color and a unique spin on a traditional work outfit also seems to do the trick! A basic black and white ensemble is really amped up a notch with this hot pink skirt! I wore some matching lipstick and stashed some flats in my bag and was ready to go!
What do you do to push through to the weekend?
It’s wedding season y’all. And that means lots of parties, friends, love, food, and empty wallets. Between buying a gift, transit to and from the weddings, and a different dress for each, wedding season can cost you a pretty penny. That’s why I’ve compiled some gorgeous gowns that won’t break the bank. This way, you can wear a different one to every occasion and still have money left over to buy something nice for yourself. Plus all these pretty little picks are so cute that you can wear them for other events as well! Whether you’re going to a beach wedding, a city wedding, or something in between, there’s something to love in my list!
Speaking of wedding season, I just reviewed a hilarious book for Joonbug called The Bridesmaids: True Tales of Love, Envy, Loyalty…and Terrible Dresses by a sweet lady named Eimear Lynch. Pack it in your bag on your way to this summer’s destination wedding!
