The Classic Piece for Every Occasion!

The Classic Piece for Every Occasion!

I would like to go ahead and suggest replacing the LBD with the LBJ (jumpsuit, that is). I love a good jumpsuit more than just about anything, and I think that having a well-tailored stand-by in your wardrobe is a necessity. I think jumpsuits really stand out in a sea of dresses; and that tailored look is polished, professional, and still so sexy! This one by Lulu*s has subtle sheer cut-outs, but can still be office chic with a blazer or scarf. There are so many fab jumpsuits available right now, so slinky, sexy, or structured there is one perfect for every girl’s closet. I’ve included some of my favorite picks below (though this one certainly takes the cake)! IMG_4272

Work Wear Wednesday

Work Wear Wednesday

Since I have started freelancing it is sometimes hard to find the motivation to wear anything other than yoga pants unless I have somewhere to go, but I did work an office job for about a year before I started my protest against normal pants. Wednesdays always felt like Fridays to me. And I usually needed something (like a fun happy hour with friends or a Soul Cycle class) to boost morale through the end of the week. Wearing a fun pop of color and a unique spin on a traditional work outfit also seems to do the trick! A basic black and white ensemble is really amped up a notch with this hot pink skirt! I wore some matching lipstick and stashed some flats in my bag and was ready to go!

What do you do to push through to the weekend?

Summer Wedding Dresses Under $100!

Summer Wedding Dresses Under $100!

It’s wedding season y’all. And that means lots of parties, friends, love, food, and empty wallets. Between buying a gift, transit to and from the weddings, and a different dress for each, wedding season can cost you a pretty penny. That’s why I’ve compiled some gorgeous gowns that won’t break the bank. This way, you can wear a different one to every occasion and still have money left over to buy something nice for yourself. Plus all these pretty little picks are so cute that you can wear them for other events as well! Whether you’re going to a beach wedding, a city wedding, or something in between, there’s something to love in my list!

Speaking of wedding season, I just reviewed a hilarious book for Joonbug called The Bridesmaids: True Tales of Love, Envy, Loyalty…and Terrible Dresses by a sweet lady named Eimear Lynch. Pack it in your bag on your way to this summer’s destination wedding!

Hudson Blues

Hudson Blues

My best girlfriend took these shots for me after we (full disclosure) had some cocktails a few weeks ago (hey Grace!). We walked along the Hudson River at sunset and checked out all the boats. It is a great way to spend an evening in the city! I had my camera with me and decided to take a few impromptu outfit shots. I love how the blue in the scarf of my Lilly Pulitzer top is picked up in the pants. The halter is another fab thrift store find!

If you ever hear bloggers talk about “the golden hour” for photos, this is it. Its that time before sunset where there are no shadows cast on a subject and the lighting is just perfect. It is so hard to shoot outfit posts at that time because I always have dinner plans or a press event. On this day, however, the shots look totally beautiful…even if (again full disclosure) I feel like my eyes look a teensy bit glazed.

Parisian Picnic

Parisian Picnic

With blogging, I always try to keep my outfit posts current. Not necessarily on trend, because I don’t attempt to follow trends when I wake up every morning-that sounds exhausting and boring at the same time. However, I do like everything I am wearing to be shoppable. So I feel like this look is a bit of a blogger faux-pas, because I bought all of it ages ago. I can’t even remember where I got that bag! But the whole thing came together sort of organically, and I just couldn’t believe I had never worn this before. It was like the shoes and dress were made for each other, and I had to do an outfit post. As usual, I will find some similar styles so you can shop the look. It’s just hilarious to me that literally everything I am wearing has been buried in my closet for well over a year. Especially the dress. I bought it while I was studying abroad in Paris, at a little music shop that had a small rack of vintage dresses by the door. I fell in love immediately, and wore it everyday that summer. And, like a moron, I completely forgot about it until today! I recently did a little wardrobe cleanse, and it is almost embarrassing how many cute clothes I have forgotten about! Does that ever happen to you? I don’t think it is that uncommon of a problem, but how did I forget about this dress?!?!

On an unrelated note, I usually do my hair everyday, but I feel like it is developing the consistency of straw. I have really frizzy hair and I use tons of heat to try to tame it. So I have a new goal of not heat styling it more than once a week. I will be testing out a bunch of products to try to fix this little issue for myself. If I love anything, you know I will share. If you have any tips, let me know in the comments below!
